Mentos-Diet Coke Geyser

I chose this experiment because I have heard about it alot and what happens. I have never seen this done. So, now I can try this myself.

This experiment worked because, what makes the soda bubly is invisable carbon dioxide gas. When i dropped the mentos candy into the soda, the gelatin and gum arabic from the dissolving candies, breaks the surfce tension. The candies have tiny pits called nucle-action sets. These make it perfect for carbon dioxide bubbles to form. When the candies hit the soda, bubbles are all over the candies, and when all the gas is released, it pushes the soda up and out, creating the geyser.
