Color Changing Carnation

I chose this experiment because I wanted to see the white carnation flower turns color. This is a way the flower shops makes different colors.

The reason why this experiment worked was the cut stem of the flower drank the colored water, meaning the water traveled up the stem of the flower to the flower and it turned color. When the water travels up (through) a cut stem, not a root like in plants in soil, is called transpiration.
