Center of a Cork

I chose this experiment because I wanted to see the cork float to the side of the glass of water and then to the middle by adding more water and what caused it to do this.

The reason why this experiment worked is because when the glass was filled almost full and I putting the cork in, it affected the surface tension, causing the cork to float to the side of the glass. When I added more water slowly to the brim of the glass and over flowing, the water created a convex tension or higher level, the cork floated to the highest level which was in the center of the water. The convex tension is like a half moon shape, being higher in the middle.
