Tooth Pick Triangle

I chose this experiment because I Wanted to see how the tooth pick triangle could go out of its shape other than shaking the bowl and water.

The reason why this experiment worked is because the water molecules in the bowl are stuck together. This forms an invisible layer on the water called surface tension. The soap molecules broke the surface tension when I put the Q-tip with dish soap on it in the middle of the tooth pick triangle carefully. When the surface tension was broken, it pushed the tooth picks apart.
